Anselm Hollo [b. Finland/USA]
1934-2013 In the US, Hollow taught a several universities and colleges, including the State University of New York in Buffalo and Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado.
Hollo’s own work, although grounded in European modernism, was highly influenced by the Beat poems. Before his death in 2013, he had published over forty books of poetry, winning the San Francisco Poetry Center Award for his Poems 1965-2000.
Hollo also won a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fund for Poetry, and the Government of Finland’s Distinguished Foreign Translator’s Award. He also won The PIP Gertrude Stein Award in Innovative Poetry in English.
Hollo, with his wife, artist Jane Dalrymple-Hollo, lived until his death in Boulder.
